Welcome to West Texas Elementary School!!
I am Mrs. Crystal Hinshaw and this is going to be my 9th year as a full time teacher. I have a passion for not only teaching, but for learning as well. I will always be a lifelong learner and have enjoyed becoming more knowledgeable in my profession. I started out at Frank Phillips where I received my Associate's Degree in teaching. I then went to West Texas A&M University where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in elementary education with honors as Summa Cum Laude.
After graduating, I was fortunate to obtain a 1st grade teaching position at West Texas Elementary school. I taught first grade for 5 years. I loved teaching first grade, but had the opportunity to reach more students in need, as our school's reading and math interventionist, dyslexia teacher, and 5th grade reading teacher. I currently teach first through fifth grade in Math, Reading, and English. This is the third year in my current position and I am extremely excited for what this year holds for my students and me. I had been working on my Masters in Educational Leadership to obtain my principal certification. I have compeleted all the classes and the pricncpal certification exam to obtain my prinicpal certification. I am waiting to take my comprehesive exam to complete my Masters which is only given twice a year. I will take that exam as soon as it is offered.
I will have been married to my husband, Curtis Hinshaw, for 18 years this March and we have four amazingly smart and beautiful daughters. Brenna is 17, Arden is 16, and Kristyn and Kenlee are 14 years old. My days are full of finding better ways to teach my students and running to all the activities that my girls are in.
