Welcome to West Texas Elementary School

The mission of West Texas Elementary is to provide our children with the skills to become proactive, productive citizens of the twenty-first century.


Our website is our primary way to get information to parents of West Texas Elementary students.  As soon as information becomes available, we will post it on this page.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the West Texas Elementary office at 878-2103.

  • WEDNESDAY APRIL 18th – REPORT CARD DAY
  • THURSDAY APRIL 19th – PRE K/KINDERGARTEN MUSICAL PERFORMANCE (1:00 for students & 6:30 for parents)
  • MONDAY APRIL 23rd – FIRST GRADE MUSIC PERFORMANCE (6:30 pm for parents)
  • TUESDAY APRIL 24th – FIRST GRADE MUSIC PERFORMANCE (2:45 pm for students)
  • FRIDAY APRIL 27th – PRE K/KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round-Up will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on April 27th .

Please follow these steps on that day to make registration more efficient:

  1.  Enter the school through door #3 (Elementary Main Office)
  2.  Check in at the office
  3.  Please have your documentation ready for Mrs. Newsom to make copies
  4.  After you have submitted the proper documentation, pick up an enrollment packet and proceed to the south gym
  5. While in the gym Mr. Quisenberry will address parents as they fill out the enrollment packet
  6. Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Parks will take your children on a tour of the school

Requirements for Eligilbility

 

Eligible Pre-Kindergarten children must be 4 years old by September 1, 2018, and Kindergarten children must be 5 years old by September 1, 2018.  Pre-K students must reside within the West Texas Elementary School District.  Pre-K students that are currently enrolled at West Texas Elementary do not need to register on this day for Kindergarten. Kindergarteners need only attend if they are new to the district.

The following items are required for registration:

1.  Immunization Record

2.  Official Birth Certificate

3.  Social Security Card

4.  Proof of Residence (A bill or rental agreement with a physical address)

We must have all of the documents before your child can be assigned to a classroom. 

Immunizations must be up to date before your child can be assigned to a classroom.

In order to establish a safe and efficient procedure for dropping off/picking up students, please adhere to the following:

  • Only bus drop-off students may enter the school through the back door of the cafeteria.
  • All parent drop-off students must enter the school through door #4 (by the nurse’s office) or door #3 (by the elementary main office).
  • No parents are allowed behind the school during school hours under any circumstance.
  • All parent pick-up students must be picked up in the parking lot by the south gym.
  • No parents are allowed in the bus pick-up area.

 

These rules have been put in place for the safety of our children.

    Thank you for the start of another awesome school year at West Texas Elementary.  The following are some helpful hints and reminders to help make the school year easier.

  • Students enter the school through door #4.
  • Breakfast is served from 7:25-7:45 am.
  • School begins at 7:55 am; if you arrive after this time, you must stop by the office.
  • Lunch times are as follows:
    • PK 10:50-11:25 am
    • Kindergarten 11:00-11:30 am recess @ 11:30
    • First Grade 11:15-11:45 am recess @ 11:45
    • Second Grade 11:20-11:50 recess @ 11:50
    • Third Grade 11:45-12:15 recess @ 12:15-12:30
    • Fourth Grade 11:30- 12:00 recess @ 12:00
    • Fifth Grade 11:27- 11:57 recess @ 11:27
  • All visitors must sign in at the office. You must have a visitors pass or you will be redirected back to the office. No parents will be allowed in the halls during instructional time.
  • We cannot change your child’s transportation plan after 2:30 pm.
  • School is dismissed at 3:35, and all buses will run at this time.
  • Parent pick-up is located at the south parking lot by the old playground.
  • Friday pep rally procedures are as follows:
    • You must enter through the high school.
    • Due to space issues, you may not sit with your child’s class. If you would like to sit with your child, come to the office before the pep rally and sign them out.
    • No parents will be allowed down the hallway to the elementary after the pep rally is over. You must exit through the same doors that you entered.
    • If your child is parent pick-up on Friday, they will need to be picked up in the south parking lot.

Due to the high volume of phone calls at the end of the day, we will no longer take calls to change a child's transportation home between 2:30-3:35.
