I graduated from Stinnett High School in 1974. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from West Texas State University in 1979.
I have a BS degree in Elementary Education with a Reading Endorsement. I also received my Learning Resource Endorsement in 1995.
I started teaching in 1985 for Stinnett ISD. Stinnett school district consolidated with Plemons and Phillips school districts in 1987. This is my 35th year to teach. I am currently Elementary Librarian for the P-S-P district. I’ve previsously taught Reading in grades 1st-8th grades.
I am married to Mickey VanHuss. This June we will be married 44 years. We have one daughter, Katie Kight and her husband Kyle Kight. Katie is a 2002 graduate of West Texas High School. She and Kyle are 2005 graduates of Texas Tech University. We have three grandsons, Kash (age 11), Kreede (age 6) and Khord (age 2). Kreede is a student at West Texas Elementary.
My hobbies include playing with my grandsons, reading, and doing research. My husband and I have a Harley-Davidson trike that we enjoy.
